Tips on heat treating fasteners

You would know that industrial fasteners are important for many industries. They serve many important functions. You might also be aware that heat treatments become necessary for fasteners.

We at Indana Steel are one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of fasteners .through this blog we will provide you with certain tips in regard to heat treatments of fasteners.

What the heat treatment processes for fasteners involve?

The heat treatment process involves the heating and cooling operations which are applied on alloys or metals in the solid state of matter. Through this the fasteners are first subjected to the application of heat. This is done to achieve the desired alteration in rigidity, smoothness malleability and material strength.

The whole process is extremely costly. This is why it is most important that the entire process is fully effective to achieve the desired results from it. You have to consider the following points to make the process effective:

The points which must be considered in the heating process:

  •  Pay heed to the chemistry of the elements
The chemistry of the element which is being heated plays an important role in the heat treatment process. The same applies for fasteners also.

So while whatever be the metal or alloy which is being heated you need to know the exact chemical composition and the details in regard to how it would react to the heat and what are the safeguards you need to take to make the process yield the desired results.

  • Cleaning and drying of the parts

It is true that heat treatment process tolerates the damp parts. However there is no logical reason why you should not pay attention to the cleaning and drying of the parts.

All you need to do is just to move the dirt from the surface of the parts to the disposal system.

The removal of dampness and dirt helps in the whole heating process make it more effective.

  • Prevent Bending of the parts and damaged thread

In the process you need to ensure that there is no damage to the thread due to mishandling. Improper use of metal rod or clearing the jams can often cause damage to the threads which are irreversible and thus must be avoided.

What is the most commonly used material for nuts and bolts?

Be it construction or any other major industry the role of nuts and bolts and other types of fasteners are critical. Thus they determine the overall strength and structure of the largest structures.  So in case you happen to have your business in the manufacturing or construction sector we are sure that you would be interested to know what the commonly used materials for nuts and bolts are. So let us understand the different types of materials used. The different types of fastener materials used Fasteners are made with   a wide variety of  of material s . These include everything from common steel to titanium, plastic and other exotic materials. Some of these materials are again separated into different grades. This is done to describe specific alloy mixtures, hardening as well as processes involved.  Apart from this some nuts and bolts are available with a variety of coatings or platings.   This is done to increase the resistance against corrosion or alter the appearan

Properties of HSFG Bolts

Bolts are extensively used as a fastener. They serve various purposes and there may be various types of bolts. We at  Indiana Steel  being in the steel business since long and are involved in the manufacture and supply of various kinds of fasteners includes bolts. Of the various types of bolts which are in use the HSFG bolts are widely used. These are on account of the properties they have. In this blog we will explain to you what they are and their properties and benefits of using them.   HSFG bolts what they are? How they are made? High Strength Friction Grip Bolts are popularly known are HSFG bolts. They are made from bars of medium carbon steel. These bolts have great strength. Their high strength is built through the process of quenching and tempering.  This process is also known as alloying steel. Steel washers of hard steel or carburized steel are provided to evenly distribute the clamping pressure on the bolted member and to prevent the threaded portion of t

Material Types For Flange Guard

Safety is one of the key requirements for many industries like chemicals and petrochemicals which require the transportation of hazardous chemicals. These can expose the working personnel and the equipment at the plant to considerable risks. Flange guards are safety shields which shield the working personnel and the surrounding equipment at such plants.  This is why their use has been mandatory in the industries of today. However while installing flange guards at your plant you must ensure that they of high strength, easy to install, offer great efficiency and must be of the best material which suits your need. We at   Indana Steel   being one of the leaders in manufacture and supply of different types of flange guards list some of the types of materials which are used for the manufacture guards. Flange guards: the materials used  Teflon You would usually find in the market flange guards which have a teflon coating. This helps the flange guards in increasing its effic
