Flange Guards & Spray Shields On Oil & Gas Joints For Shell & Total

In the year 2015 Shell and Total joint venture known as Hazira LNG PVT.LTD based in Hazira, Gujarat, India decided to change all its existing Flange shields because of the end of life of shields and various maintenance concerns.
This facility has cargo jetties for unloading of gas and vapor.Gas and vapor are stored in tanks at minus one hundred and sixty degrees.
This gas is sent to regasification units to be shipped to customers.

Our team on visiting the unit observed that they were using Kleer band Flange shields with the worm gear. These Flanges were standard ASME flanges up to size 28 inches and flange pressure rating was #600. These flanges had a lot of structure in form of jumpers and clamps welded to them.No standard flange spray guard could serve the purpose. The challenge was each flange had a different design of flange shield which would cover all external structures welded to the flanges.Initially, they planned to change approximately 100 odd flange shields.Apart from this, they wanted certain changes incorporated such that maintenance can be done easily.

It took several months for our team to incorporate proper fitment of the shields as any small concern could lead to catastrophic damage. When you are working with size 28 inches Flange Spray shield...the handling is very difficult because of the length being in excess of 3 meters for each flange shield.

What was commendable is the standard of safety Shell and Total have incorporated at the plant. This facility is by far one of the safest facility in its category in India.

INDANA Flange Guards & Safety Spray Shields are world renowned for its quality, service and affordable flange spray shields.

What is the most commonly used material for nuts and bolts?

Be it construction or any other major industry the role of nuts and bolts and other types of fasteners are critical. Thus they determine the overall strength and structure of the largest structures.  So in case you happen to have your business in the manufacturing or construction sector we are sure that you would be interested to know what the commonly used materials for nuts and bolts are. So let us understand the different types of materials used. The different types of fastener materials used Fasteners are made with   a wide variety of  of material s . These include everything from common steel to titanium, plastic and other exotic materials. Some of these materials are again separated into different grades. This is done to describe specific alloy mixtures, hardening as well as processes involved.  Apart from this some nuts and bolts are available with a variety of coatings or platings.   This is done to increase the resistance against corrosion or alter the appearan

Properties of HSFG Bolts

Bolts are extensively used as a fastener. They serve various purposes and there may be various types of bolts. We at  Indiana Steel  being in the steel business since long and are involved in the manufacture and supply of various kinds of fasteners includes bolts. Of the various types of bolts which are in use the HSFG bolts are widely used. These are on account of the properties they have. In this blog we will explain to you what they are and their properties and benefits of using them.   HSFG bolts what they are? How they are made? High Strength Friction Grip Bolts are popularly known are HSFG bolts. They are made from bars of medium carbon steel. These bolts have great strength. Their high strength is built through the process of quenching and tempering.  This process is also known as alloying steel. Steel washers of hard steel or carburized steel are provided to evenly distribute the clamping pressure on the bolted member and to prevent the threaded portion of t

Flange and Valve wrapping tape system - Biggest Drawback

Flange and Valve wrapping by a tape system is a real bad idea. Why? 1. This tape system needs a lot of preparation time. 2. Installation involves skilled labor from the manufacturer. 3. Once a Flange is sealed Maintenance cannot be done. - Biggest drawback. 4. Cannot be reused. 5. Too much work in form of removing the packing and tape -After a Flange leak 6. High cost associated in terms of preparation, supervision and material . 7. Installation for large number of flanges will take months. Any solution that seals the flange and is not reusable is a failure. We need to understand that flanges joints are subject to failures : 1. Gasket failure - Mechanical deterioration with time, over tightening, temperature and  2. Fastening system failure - Bolting is subject to vibrations, stress and fatigue. 3. Alignment-Improper alignment of both faces of flange often leads to a Flange failure. Solution  Flange spray safety shields are the best soluti
